John Nathaniel Boateng has over 15 years of experience in the public policy environment, providing advice on public financial management, governance of oil, gas, and mining revenues, trade laws, regional trade agreements, and social protection to the Members of Parliament of the Parliament of Ghana. As a member of the West Africa Network of Emerging Leaders on Health Policy and Systems, he was a consultant for the project “Rectifying the Effects of COVID-19 on Vulnerable populations in West Africa: a research action (RECOVER)”. The project was funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and hosted by the Dodowa Health Research Centre of the Ghana Health Service. John has also consulted for the Rural Prospective Initiative (IPAR) of Senegal on the project “Monitoring Health-Related Sustainable Development Goals in Senegal, Burkina Faso and Ghana” funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada. As a Consultant – Certified Technical Advisor with the African Aurora Business Network, Ghana, john successfully managed the “Young Africa Works” Grassroots Capability Program of the MasterCard Foundation. The program provided an intensive technical support that enabled youth-led organizations align their internal processes with requisite institutional practices and compliance processes.
John holds a Doctorate Degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana. He has been a visiting Doctoral Scholar at the Centre for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany, Brown International Advanced Research Institute (BIARI), Brown University, U.S.A., University of Helsinki, Finland and Peking University, Beijing, China. He also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Local Economic Development from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague and the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands.
